Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled, mechanically minded Estimator to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating manufacturing or repairs to components, preparing quote documentation, and ensuring the efficient processing of quotes. You will need to think outside the square and come up with innovative ways to undertake repairs, ideally having a qualification and experience in maintenance engineering. This is workshop based role, but from time to time you may be required to visit client sites to scope work.
Key Responsibilities
Communication with workshop leads, understanding the scopes of work and be able to accurately quote the repairs.
Prepare accurate estimates by gathering proposals, blueprints, and specifications.
Client liaison to determine expectation, formalise and submit quotes.
Optimise margins by working with managers and supervisors to ensure cost-effective pricing and accurate estimates.
Support pre-tender meetings for large-scale projects to confirm IMG’s intention to tender and clarify the process.
Support client relationship management by assisting with sales proposals, conducting site visits, and maintaining regular contact with key accounts.
Ensure all quoted jobs are opened promptly and job packs are complete, containing necessary QA/QC information for a smooth handover to the relevant team.
Requirements
Relevant trade qualification or a really good knowledge of Mechanical Engineering.
Hold and maintain a current NZ driver’s license.
Understanding blueprints, engineering symbols, plans, Industry Codes & Standards, and sound attention to detail.
Intermediate to advanced MS and Excel skills.
Experience in sales or customer relations.
Can understand budgets, plans, and financials.
Good general level of verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask, stay focused, and meet deadlines.

The successful candidate must pass drug, alcohol, and medical checks.
