Who we are / Ko wai mātou

At North Haven Hospice we work collaboratively with other services to develop an understanding of, and to practice, quality supportive care in our community for those with a terminal illness or life-limiting condition.

Our mission embraces kindness, personalised, and specialised end-of-life care, respecting individual choices. Whether you're a patient, a family member, or a dedicated staff member, we care about you. We invite you to join our team and contribute to funding the diverse journey of care we provide to those who need it most.

Nature of the role / te āhuatanga o te tūranga

Our Events and Fundraising superstar is going on 12 months maternity leave, leaving us to seek that special someone to fill her shoes.

We are looking for that special someone who is proactive, creative, and dynamic who thrives in a team environment, but also enjoys working autonomously.  In this Events and Fundraising Assistant role you will work alongside our Director of Marketing and Fundraising for fundraising events, campaigns, and community engagement.  You will be engaging with a diverse environment - connecting with local business, community organisations and creating new networks.

You’ll be responsible for event operational logistics, making grant applications, supporting our Gifts in Wills development, and working with a range of volunteer and staff teams. There is an administrative aspect to the role as well, recording and reporting on marketing and promotional activity.

We’re keen to get started planning 2024’s activity and campaigns and want your input right from the start.

Join our team and work to support our charitable fundraising:

  • Grow awareness of North Haven Hospice and its services.
  • Maximise engagement and donations.
  • Manage promotional campaigns, events, and partner relationships.

What you will bring / ngā pūkenga mō tēnei tūranga

To be successful in this role you will have some demonstrated experience in running events, excellent communication skills and the ability to proactively work with a range of people.  You must have strong computer literacy and be willing to work the occasional weekend and late night.

You will be:

  • Able to contribute as part of a team but also comfortable making decisions and working autonomously.
  • Creative, outgoing, and sociable.
  • Professional in your working manner.
  • Innovative and have a flair for display.
  • Willing and able to uphold the values of North Haven Hospice.

Promotional experience would be desirable as well as any previous experience working with volunteers or in the not-for-profit sector.

What we offer/ ka taea e mātou te tuku

We offer the opportunity to use your skills to give back to your neighbouring community and be part of a committed and supportive retail team.  A position you can grow and make your own.

If this resonates with you, then you might be exactly who we're seeking!

For further information please contact Lyn Cheyne, Director of Marketing & Fundraising, [email protected].  Applications close on Sunday, 7 July 2024.
