Job Description - Facilities and Services Technician (Fixed Term to December 2026)

Company Description

We’re Wētā Workshop - an award-winning creative design and manufacturing facility based in Wellington, New Zealand — where artists, makers, and storytellers bring imaginary worlds to life. From creatures to costumes, props to miniatures, tours, and entire immersive experiences, we turn ideas into reality.

Job Description

Our Facilities Team make sure our workplace environment is set up to help our crew achieve what they need to achieve – thorough managing premises, security, cleaning, non-IT equipment, furniture, maintenance, health and safety … and more.

We’re looking for an additional Facilities and Services Technician to join us on a fixed-term through to mid-December, assisting the team to maintain Weta Workshop facilities to a very high standard.

Here’s what will you be doing day to day:

  • Servicing and maintenance including troubleshooting and minor repairs
  • Helping relocate furniture and items in storage
  • Helping facilitate external providers and contractors
  • Decorating of rooms
  • Supplies management
  • Managing your time and jobs through our ticketing system

It’s a busy role, and we’re looking for someone who is naturally proactive.

You’ll need to be a confident communicator – in person and via email – and be comfortable using our ticketing system (training provided of course).

You’ll be physically fit, resilient (things change a lot around here), have a wide range of practical skills and be keen to get stuck in. We’re happy to tailor some of the tasks to your skillset, so tell us if you have experience in metal fabrication, engineering, carpentry etc.

A drivers license is a must, and it will be a bonus if you’re certified to drive a forklift (but not essential). If you’ve been trained in Working at Heights and have experience with scissor lifts that’s another nice-to-have.

It’s a Monday to Friday role, but we are looking for flexibility for occasional weekend work (with time in lieu in return)

You can find out more in our job description here, or reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

If you’re keen, then please apply – we’re looking for someone to start ASAP.

Additional Information

If we can do anything to accommodate you during the recruitment or interview process, please let us know.

Successful candidates will need to undergo a Ministry of Justice check as part of our application process.
