Due to exciting internal growth, my client, Kindred Family Services, is looking for two stellar people to join their team as advocate/social workers in their family harm team (permanent full time).
Kindred Family Services is a vibrant NGO in Nor-West Auckland. The services offered by Kindred work to support people from crisis to safety, to stability and towards creating a flourishing community. They have a range of services and programmes to help people reach their full potential, including family harm community advocacy/support, family support, strengthening families, group programmes, counselling, and a women’s refuge safe house. They work across all genders, with children, youth and adults.
These roles would be rewarding for individuals passionate about supporting and empowering clients and their whānau to live safe lives free from harm. It is an opportunity to build on the client’s personal strengths, develop strategies, and connect them with community resources to establish long term positive change. These roles are an opportunity to join a supportive team dedicated to providing quality interventions.
Are you the person for either of these positions? You will be happy to work 35-40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will have had 3+ years working in the field of family harm and will ideally be a qualified Social Worker or similar. Alternatively, you may have approximately ten years of experience in the field without a formal qualification. It is important that you understand the dynamics of power and control. You will also hold a full driver’s license. Whilst the roles are based in Helensville and Kumeu Area, Kindred services a large and diverse population from Taupaki to South Kaipara, requiring a person who enjoys travelling to meet their clients.
You will be someone who is ready for the challenge of developing this role into an example of best practice. You will have the ability to work cross-culturally and inclusively and work from a trauma-informed position. You will also be compassionate, a team player, and proactive in managing your own self-care.
To be successful in this role, you will need a robust understanding of the following:
You will be provided with ongoing training, supervision, and all the tools you’ll need to do your job, although you’ll need your own car (mileage will be reimbursed).
In return, you would be offered a competitive salary and reimbursed for professional development & supervision. In addition, you will be part of a supportive team with hands-on leadership and a real opportunity to grow and develop your skills.
If you think you would be great for this position or would like a copy of the job description, please contact Jaime at Marbles (People & Culture Hub) here
