We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team, where your daily work goes far beyond a job description - it provides support for our local community. 


 


Are you someone who loves to work outdoors and would like to be involved in maintaining the park like surrounds of cemeteries? 


 


Join us at New Plymouth District Council as our next Field Staff – Cemetery/Crematorium team member in this permanent, full-time role.


 


In this hands-on position, you'll play a key role in ensuring those final steps for families are completed in a timely and accurate manner.  You will also be helping to maintain the grounds of 10 cemeteries across the district as well as our local crematorium.  


 


 


Key Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa matua



  • Ensure all health and safety directions/instructions are followed.

  • Carry out cemetery/crematorium work as scheduled/directed.

  • Engage with the public and provide a quality customer service.

  • Utilises resources effectively.

  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation.


 


 


 Essential Skills and Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako



  • A relevant qualification would be advantageous.

  • Experience in the maintenance of outdoor spaces.

  • Knowledge of legislation relating to cemeteries and crematorium.

  • Full Drivers licence, class 2 preferable.

  • General fitness at a level to be able to cope with the demands of the job.

  • Basic computer skills
