Job Description - Finance Manager

Mangatu Blocks Incorporation (MBI) is a Māori owned organisation supporting the prosperity of its owners. Mangatu has a diverse base of high performing assets and most importantly supports the care of its 45,000HA of whenua (land). Integrated Food Group (IFG), a subsidiary of MBI, stands as a leader in agribusiness, with large-scale farming bases in New Zealand and its own lamb processing facilities in Napier.

The diversity of the Groups portfolio, and the desire to support both its shareholders and community, calls for a varied and dynamic group of people to lead and deliver. Forestry, Carbon, Farming and Food Processing are the backbone of the Group. But the future offers exciting opportunities and these are just on the horizon for the Group.

We offer a competitive
salary reflective of your experience, plus the opportunity to grow with us as our portfolios expand — this is a business with genuine ambition, and we want someone who's excited to grow alongside it.

About the Role

As Finance Manager, you'll take ownership of high-quality financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance — all while working closely with the CFO, senior leaders, and operational managers to deliver commercial insights that power smart decisions and real growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing financial statements, management reports, forecasts, and budgets

  • Leading the annual audit process and year-end reporting

  • Managing cash flow forecasting and financial compliance requirements

  • Partnering with managers to provide sharp financial analysis and planning support

  • Driving smart improvements in financial systems and reporting processes

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing your finance and administration team

  • Championing continuous improvement initiatives across the wider business

  • Stepping up as 2IC to the CFO when required

About You

You're a driven finance professional who thrives on variety and impact. You'll bring:

  • A recognised accounting qualification

  • At least 5 years' experience in a senior accounting or finance role

  • Strong commercial and compliance accounting knowledge

  • Solid experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and strong systems capability

  • Sharp attention to detail, accuracy, and top-notch communication skills

  • A knack for building strong relationships at every level of the business

Bonus Points For:

  • Forestry, farming, manufacturing, or FMCG industry experience

  • Experience with Xero and related business systems

  • IFRS financial reporting and group consolidation experience

Why Join Us?

Join a supportive, down-to-earth team where your ideas matter, your leadership makes a real difference, and your career can grow as fast as our business does. With exciting expansion plans already underway, there's never been a better time to get on board.
