Financial Controller - BEL Group - Immediate Start

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting and finance leader with a genuine commercial mindset to step into a great new role with BEL Group. The right person here will sit as the commercial right hand to the General Manager and play a really positive part in their next phase of growth.

BEL Group, is a large and privately-owned dairy farming business with strong values that reflect through their people, business performance and environmental sustainability.  With approximately 70 staff, working across eight different farm units over 3500 hectares of farmland across the Takapau area, they have a really strong base and footprint. Their continued aspirations for growth and excellence mean they rely heavily on knowing where they are at – commercial and financial performance and integrity are at the heart of this. 

As Financial Controller, your core focus will be to deliver accurate financial reporting and ensure the company delivers on its financial obligations, and to drive to commercial performance and business optimisation.  This is both a hands-on and a strategic role.  Your key responsibilities will include oversight of small and highly effective team which include admin and analyst resources, preparing the annual budget and monthly financial reports and ensuring completion of the year-end reporting and annual accounts.  But the real extension and contribution will come from you determining the links from the actual numbers to the financial and commercial performance and to future opportunities for the business. In no time you will be fully immersed working alongside the wider office team, farm managers, and the Board, to deliver meaningful and value add information right across the entire business.

This role is suited to those with a proven track record in technical accounting and finance management, ideally from companies with strong reporting disciplines and rigour.  A broad exposure across financial and management accounting is a must, and a CA qualification is preferred.  You may be in a CA firm looking for the next move or already in commerce.  Either way you’ll relate well to commercial environments and have strong affinity to the production/agricultural/farming sectors.  You will bring a good working knowledge of modelling and data extraction, and experience with Xero, and Figured would be preferred.  A relatability to dairy farm production systems will also be highly regarded.  This role will offer the right person a genuine opportunity to take a seat at the leadership table and interact right across a successful their HQ located in Waipukurau.  If you have the required expertise and see the potential and future opportunity for growth in making a move like this then please apply through this portal, or for further information, call the team at Populous People for a confidential chat on 06 875 8446.
