South Pacific Fire Protection are a leading in the installation and maintenance of fire protection systems in New Zealand. 

We provide all aspects of fire protection, including Sprinkler systems and Fire alarm and detection systems. 

Additionally, our Service and maintenance team offers inspection, test, and repair services for all fire protection systems, including sprinklers, extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, pumps fire alarm & detection systems and other BWoF services.

Due to growth  and internal promotion within the business – We are seeking a Fire Alarm Service technician or Electrician  to join our growing team in the Canterbury Region

We offer permanent work, from Monday to Friday, at least 40 hours per week and competitive pay based on your qualifications and experience.


The Fire Alarm Technician or Electrician's primary task is to undertake the physical installation, repair and maintenance of fire protection alarm systems and Emergency lighting systems and assist in the annual surveys, ensuring those installations comply with New Zealand standards.

The Role:

SPFP are looking for a Fire Alarms Service technician or Electrician to carry out repairs, and remedial and minor works on fire alarm systems, within our service business.

This position requires an individual with a relevant construction qualification (NZQF Level 4 qualification) or at least three years of relevant experience, plus behaviours of Excellent Communication Skills, Attention to Detail, Persistence, Well organised, Team player, and able to contribute to continual development of quality within their team. 

About you:

  • Sound knowledge in Fire Alarms, Emergency Lighting and New Zealand Standards.
  • Previous track record in the Fire or Electrical industry. 
  • Previous experience installing and repairing fire alarms and/or Emergency Lighting
  • Great customer service skills.
  • A clean, full NZ driver's licence is required.
  • Able to work a minimum 40 hours per week.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform maintenance testing and servicing on fire protection systems as required as per applicable NZ standards and ensure all checks/tests are done correctly and on time every time. 
  • Fire system Fault-finding alterations and maintenance, be able to work with live fire protection systems and can isolate and reinstate systems as per standards.
  • Emergency lighting fault finding, repair and installation.
  • Management of jobs which includes labour; organizing material; responding to and resolving design queries; liaising with clients, to ensure smooth completion of contracts. 
  • Fire alarm commissioning, programming and configuring of fire alarm panels 
  • Organising and managing onsite activities including overseeing site operations such as co-ordination of operations among clients and other trades on site and installation quality control.
  • Representing SPFP when attending site meetings, SPFP meetings and tool box meetings
