Job Description - Fluidic Components Engineer

Dawn Aerospace is leading the green propulsion revolution, with more in-space hardware in our category than any other company. We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Fluidic Components Engineer to join our in-space propulsion team.

About the Role

As a Fluidic Components Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the mechanical design, manufacturing, and productionization of our satellite propulsion system components. This role is ideal for someone with expertise in mechanical design, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and test engineering—especially in the design and development of test setups and data acquisition systems.

At Dawn Aerospace, we move fast, challenge industry norms, and deliver on our promises. If you're passionate about satellite propulsion, fluidics, and cutting-edge simulations, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Engineering: Develop and refine mechanical and fluidic components for satellite propulsion systems.

  • Testing & Validation: Lead requirement verification through fluid modeling, data analysis, and component qualification.

  • Production Support: Oversee the transition from design to manufacturing and assembly.

  • Test Infrastructure: Design and implement testing jigs and methodologies for R&D and production.

  • Troubleshooting: Investigate production non-conformances and resolve equipment issues (e.g., TVAC chambers, vibration/leak testing, thruster test cells).

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).

  • Proficiency in CAD (preferably SolidWorks) for design and manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of design for manufacture principles.

  • Hands-on experience with testing for requirement verification.

  • Solid grasp of fluid dynamics fundamentals.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams.

  • Adaptability to balance performance, risk, cost, and schedule constraints.

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

  • CFD simulations using OpenFOAM or ANSYS Fluent.

  • Experience with fluid modeling in small-diameter domains.

  • Hands-on experience with data acquisition & analysis (National Instruments, LabView, etc.).

  • Machining skills (CNC/manual milling & turning).

  • Swagelok fitting use & maintenance.

  • Experience with Matlab or Python for analysis.

Security Clearance

For security reasons background checks will be undertaken prior to any employment offers being made to an applicant. These checks will include nationality checks as it is a requirement of this position that you be eligible to access export-controlled information.
