What This Role Is About

This is a hands‑on, people‑focused role supporting the day‑to‑day running of the Christchurch City Mission Foodbank. You’ll be a first point of contact for clients accessing emergency food, assessing eligibility, identifying additional needs, and making referrals where appropriate.

Alongside client support, you’ll help prepare and dispatch food parcels, manage food stock across frozen, chilled, fresh, dry, and self‑serve areas, and work alongside volunteers to keep the Foodbank running smoothly and safely.

This is a casual position with no guarantee of ongoing work. The days and hours of work are Monday to Friday, between 8:00 and 3:30 pm.

  • An understanding of food safety, health, and hygiene (or willingness to learn)
  
  
  • Physical fitness for manual tasks
  
  
  • Basic computer skills for recording information
  
  
  • Alignment with the values, ethics and Christian foundation of the Christchurch City Mission
