About the role:

As the General Counsel, you will lead and manage the Legal Services team and its requirements of Council. The team ensures delivery of high-quality, efficient services, advice and legal support of the Council.

Key responsibilities include developing the Legal Services team, overseeing the LGOIMA, complaints and Ombudsman inquiry process and privacy compliance.

This is a new leadership position and will also play a pivotal role in shaping and driving our legal strategy to support the Council's goals and community needs.

About you:

Professional in your approach, you will be an analytical thinker with the ability to excel in a legal environment. You'll bring significant experience in a senior legal role and will be a trusted and influential source of professional legal services advice.

You will hold a tertiary qualification in Law and a current practicing certificate. Your excellent communication skills and collaborative approach to your work will complement your proven leadership and management experience. You will be able to lead, support, coach and develop all members of the Legal Services team to provide an exceptional service to the Council and the community.

On top of this you will have a demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational legal advice and support in meeting Council's organisation goals.
