General Manager - Construction

A rare opportunity exists for a General Manager with a strong background in commercial construction to lead this exceptional business into the future.

We have a rare opportunity that will appeal to a Senior Project Manager / Project Director or similar with proven experience delivering large scale ($50M+) commercial (vertical) construction projects, who is now ready to step up to a General Manager role within the construction industry. This role is based in Auckland.

About the role

The General Manager will provide strong leadership and direction for this well established commercial construction business to ensure its continued effective and profitable success. As well as the large commercial building projects underway now, the business has a strong pipeline of committed large, exciting projects well into the future.

Key responsibilities

Strategic planning and business development including formal presentations of proposals

Construction performance and to act as Project Director on high risk projects

Key member of the Executive Leadership Team

Financial management and financial performance of the business

Health, safety and environmental management and reporting

Leadership, development, mentoring and recognition of staff

Skills and experience

10+ years in senior construction management roles

Ideally have Senior Project Manager / Project Director background

A relevant tertiary qualification (QS qualification an advantage)

Strong experience in the Developer / Builder business model

Excellent knowledge of construction methods, procedures and techniques

Well-developed communication and negotiation skills

Strong financial acumen
