As our Geotechnical team continues to grow, we’re expanding in Hamilton and looking for an experienced Engineering Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer to join our newly established team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in building our presence in the Waikato while delivering high-quality, practical engineering solutions.
The Role
You’ll contribute across a range of geotechnical and engineering geology projects, supporting delivery from investigation through to design and construction:
Hand auguring and logging soil, in situ testing of soil using hand held equipment, monitoring drill rigs and logging recovered core, geological mapping, etc.
Prepare ground models and geotechnical reports
Schedule and review geotechnical laboratory testing and analyse results
Assist in developing solutions to a range of geotechnical engineering problems
Undertake geotechnical design and prepare construction and/or contract documentation
Support QA for earthworks and construction monitoring, including liaison with clients, contractors, and regulators
Manage fieldwork undertaken by others and ensure quality assurance of completed work
Manage assigned projects, delivering on time and within budget
What You’ll Bring
A strong understanding of Geotechnical Engineering project operations, with a solid grounding in Geology. A post-graduate degree would be an advantage
Experience across both technical and practical aspects of geotechnical investigations, geological mapping, and data interpretation
Proven ability to analyse test data and prepare geological ground models, geotechnical reports and design solutions
A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or Geology (BE or BSc)
Commitment to ongoing professional development
Strong verbal and written communication skills
A sound knowledge of current computer-based design processes
Ability to prioritise, manage workflows, and work independently
