Job Description - Global Tax Manager

About the role


The Group Tax Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the Group’s tax strategy, compliance, and governance framework across all operating jurisdictions. The role ensures full adherence to applicable tax laws while optimising tax efficiency and managing risk.


Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Group Tax Manager provides strategic tax guidance to support commercial decision-making, business growth, and long-term value creation.



Some of the key responsibilities


The Group Tax Manager safeguards the organisation’s reputation through strong governance while identifying opportunities to enhance tax efficiency and support sustainable growth across Comvita’s national and international markets. Some key responsibilities include;



  • Overseeing the annual review of the Tax Governance policy 



  • Overseeing the timely filing of all tax obligations for New Zealand, Australia, USA (including corporate tax returns, GST, FBT, NRWT and RWT) 



  • Oversee preparation and timely submission of all corporate income tax returns across Comvita markets. 



  • Establish and maintain strong tax governance frameworks and internal controls. 



  • Identify tax risks and recommend mitigation strategies. 



  • Ensure compliance with OECD BEPS requirements and local regulatory frameworks. 



  • Assist with completion of global transfer pricing documentation 



  • Assist with calculation of management fees charged between group entities 



  • Assist with transfer pricing year-end adjustments and annual pricing resets 



What we would like from you



  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. 



  • Professional qualification (CA/CPA/ACCA) required. 



  • Additional tax qualification (e.g., CTA) preferred. 



  • 7–10 years of progressive tax experience. 



  • Experience in FMCG, Natural Health, or multi-entity groups advantageous.



  • Full comprehensive understanding of New Zealand tax legislation 



  • Strong knowledge of corporate tax, GST/VAT, and international tax principles. 



  • This role has one direct report, a Group Tax Accountant, so previous experience managing a report is desirable.
