The Role

We are seeking a hardworking Maintenance Technician to support the Sudima Kāikoura team by ensuring the facilities are tidy and well maintained. This position is for 40 hours per week. The role is Monday-Friday however some flexibility with hours and days is required.

We are looking for a jack of all trades that is comfortable performing varied duties day to day. You will need to be a passionate painter as this is a large part of the role at times.

Responsibilities include:

• General maintenance repairs which can include plumbing, painting, building, electrical, refrigeration, air-conditioning, room checks, preventative maintenance
• To receive and action all department maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Keep an awareness of repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel during your day-to-day tasks
• Investigate reported faults and rectify/escalate to Head of Department or other HODs as required
• Complete tasks required to fulfil full building, systems and plant preventative maintenance schedule.
• Purchase maintenance materials as directed by Head of Department.
• Liaise with relevant contractors as directed by Head of Department
• Action regular maintenance tasks to ensure the building warrant of fitness certificate is complete and up to date.
• To carry out periodical checks of contractor maintenance to ensure standard and professionalism is being maintained.
• Support regular service of appliances and equipment
• Regular liaison with all departments in particular, Front Office and Housekeeping to ensure rooms are returned to full working order as quickly as possible
• Attend hotel meetings and briefings as/when required
• Ensure you follow all hotel policies and procedures including access to guest rooms/plant/machinery etc

Requirements

• NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2): At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
• Qualifications appropriate to the role eg. Trade Qualification or Certificate such as Electrical, Plumbing, Building desired
• Full Clean Driver’s License
• Familiar with using Microsoft Office Suite and able to pick up other computer systems easily
• Strong written and verbal communication

Previous experience to include:

• Minimum 2 years of trade or general maintenance experience
