Odyssey House has been providing residential treatment for drug and alcohol addiction for over 35 years in Canterbury and in partnership with Purapura Whetu Trust, we are proud of our residential and supported accommodation programmes which provide support for wahine in the criminal justice system.
Supporting wahine with their recovery within the community is a key role in our aftercare services, working within the programmes and within the wider community. As part of our aftercare team, you will ensure employment and housing services meet the needs of the wahine in the community.
In this role, you will be working within the Aftercare team:
- Having one on one and whanau meetings to ensure transition hurdles are being overcome particularly around housing and employment.
- Facilitating groups to support transition to housing and employment.
- Developing robust community supports, attending appointments with wahine and linking them with other agencies.
- Building relationships with employers to find suitable work experiences for our wahine.
- Work with the residential teams, contributing to day-to-day activities to build relationships with the clients so that tailored aftercare plans can be created.
To be successful, you will have:
- A Level 4 health qualification (or be willing to work towards this)
- Experience with the IPS framework (Individual Placement and Support) or willing to learn.
- Skills in group delivery and individual interventions
- Excellent professional judgement and strong boundaries
- Excellent time management skills to juggle multiple tasks.
- Ability to take initiative, be flexible and think outside the box.
- A full Drivers Licence as this role is based within the community.
- An understanding of Te Ao Maori and its importance within this setting.
This role is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
Usually normal working hours but some ability to work evenings occasionally preferable.
This role is remunerated under the Support Worker pay equity rates.
