Head Chef

In this role, you will lead teams of dedicated volunteers to deliver delicious meals to our diverse community. You will be running the kitchen in our award-winning Wellington restaurant. You will be responsible for delivering a different three-course menu every day, as well as fostering a positive culture and supportive environment in our kitchen. You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to achieve our social impact and growth targets. Everybody Eats is a pay-what-you-can dining concept for everyone. We utilise rescued surplus food to create three-course restaurant meals that feed bellies, not bins. We do this in order to solve three massive problems: food waste, food insecurity, and social isolation.The successful candidate will have:*at least 10 years experience in professional kitchens*at least 5 years experience managing people*proven leadership skills*a passion for sustainability in the food industry*a passion for social justice and a desire to contribute to positive change in society*impeccable food safety and hygiene practices*a creative flair and ability to adapt to unexpected situations*a First Aid certificate, or a willingness to get one*NZ residency or valid work visaIn this role you will:*work with ever-changing ingredients made up of rescued surplus food*create a new three-course menu daily*work with diverse teams of volunteers, with a variety of experience & skill levels*induct and train volunteers to work in the kitchen*provide nutritious, delicious restaurant meals to people experiencing hardship*maintain all safety & hygiene standards in the kitchen*support the Head Chefs to deliver the ongoing operations of our restaurantsYou will be working up to 45 hours per week over 4-5 days to deliver restaurant and event service. Live your values by taking up this rare opportunity to join our growing team.
