Head of Engagement - Room for Advancement

Fixed term – asap until November 2024

Canterbury Rugby Football Union (CRFU) is one of the leading and most respected sporting organisations in New Zealand.  With continued success on and off the field, we have a rare opportunity to join the organisation’s Partnerships and Engagement team in a senior role as Head of Engagement.  

At present this will be a fixed term role finishing up in November 2024.  For the right candidate there is the possibility of permanent position being available following on from the end of this fixed term period. 

Reporting to the General Manager of Partnerships & Engagement, you will be responsible for the execution of the overarching CRFU Engagement Strategy. You will also work collaboratively with the General Manager Partnerships & Engagement to deliver the marketing, media and communications plans.  Your leadership experience will enable staff directly reporting to this role to thrive and succeed in their roles.

Ideally you will have:

• Strong marketing and communications leadership experience, ideally from within a live event, or sporting environment with a fan-centric approach
• Proven track record of driving organizational objectives through the design, and execution of effective marketing and communications across digital, and traditional channels.
• A solid understanding of digital marketing with a data-driven approach comprising of paid and organic social, display, SEO / SEM, and email 
• Media Management experience, ideally from within a sporting environment
• The ability to put the fan, and community at the heart of all activity in an effective way to drive agreed outcomes 
• A thorough knowledge of Google Analytics, Ad Manager, Meta Business Suite and other digital platforms
• Commercial nous, the ability to be innovative within traditional sporting environments, with a good understanding of brand development and social media use within the youth market.
• Evidence of successfully working with and influencing diverse groups of stakeholders and customers
• Capable of developing and managing budgets and financial targets
• Proven track record of driving commercial outcomes in a sporting environment.
• An understanding of ticketing would be advantageous.
