Health and Safety Advisor

About the role 

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our team and help shape the future of health, safety, and wellbeing at Comvita.  

This role leads and coaches Comvita teams in the successful delivery of health and safety initiatives and programmes. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will provide operational support across safety, compliance, projects, and wellbeing initiatives. A key focus will be driving continuous improvement, working collaboratively with teams to ensure procedures are practical, relevant, and aligned with business needs. You will also oversee the development and endorsement of systems and processes to ensure compliance with legislation and best industry practice. 

The position is permanent, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday and you will be focused on supporting our operational teams. We offer flexibility to work from home when possible, but need someone who can be on site with our teams on a regular basis. This role is a 'boots-on-the-ground' role and there will be frequent travel to our various north island operational locations. Given this, we would ideally like someone to be based in the Bay of Plenty. 

What we would like from you 

• Minimum of 5 years in a health and safety role. 

• Experienced in in the full remit of health and safety activities including risk management, incident management, contractor management, emergency planning, etc. 

• Familiar with the Health and Safety at Work Act (2015), Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act (1996) and associated Regulations, Codes of Practices and Guidelines 

• Familiar with H&S software 

• A natural influencer with the ability to connect, coach, and inspire. 

• Analytical and adaptable. 

• Be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize effectively. 

• Full, clean NZ drivers license.
