The Malaghan Institute of Medical Research is looking to appoint a new Health & Safety Advisor to build on our current safety culture, and the policies, processes, and systems we have carefully established. The Malaghan Institute is New Zealand’s leading independent biomedical research institute, with a focus on breakthrough discoveries in immunology and immunotherapy and we have over 140 staff committed to finding cures for diseases using the body’s own immune system. Working with the science support team, this role is well suited to someone who's passionate about creating an accident and injury free environment and ensuring that people are safe and happy in their workplace.
This is a hands on Health and Safety role where you'll be tasked with working with people throughout all levels of the organisation, advising on all safety matters. You will be proactive in learning the intricacies of how we work, from the researchers in our labs to our hard-working support staff. You will provide sound advice to senior management based on your familiarity with the Health & Safety at Work Act and WorkSafe best practices. Working mostly autonomously, you will be happy handling all aspects of H&S at the Institute, with support from knowledgeable co-workers who value the importance of your role.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm.
