About the role | He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga

We are on the hunt for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor. This role is full-time, Monday to Friday 08:30-17:30, and based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington or Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

The Health and Safety Advisor is an integral member of a team of health and safety practitioners who support the organisation’s commitment to providing a healthy and safe working environment for all employees, clients, contractors, and visitors to the workplace. This includes:

  • Maintain a healthy and safe work environment as indicated by acceptable industry practices and in compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Facilitate and provide as is appropriate all practical managed care support and rehabilitation necessary for injured employees through return-to-work programmes.
  • Design, oversee and support implementation of clinical and service improvement programs with the guidance of the Quality, Health and Safety Governance Committee of the Board.
  • Lead and mentor of best clinical practice and safety across the organisation along with managing the AEP program and return to Work Team around injury management.
  • Enable all areas of the organisation understand, own and maintain accountability for a Health and Safety system which is fully embedded within their operational practice.
  • Provide an effective and proactive audit assurance function, which ensures continuous improvement of Health and Safety standards and service performance.
  • Maintain a robust risk management framework to ensure the organisation appropriately identifies and mitigates key service delivery risks and effectively manages issues as they arise.

What you will bring | Ngā tohungatanga mō tēnei tūranga

  • Tertiary qualification (or studying towards a tertiary qualification) in a health and safety discipline with experience gained in health and safety teams in a complex environment
  • Professional membership through the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (or equivalent registration body) and undertaking continuous professional development
  • ACC Partnership Programme knowledge and experience
  • Analytical and research skills including the ability to analyse and interpret statistical and performance related data
  • Experience in Union engagement with the management of Worker Participation
  • Experience working in a confidential environment desirable and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Healthcare sector knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in deploying health and safety strategies, plans and policies
  • Demonstrated strong technical and specialist expertise in health and safety management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent time management and the ability to self-manage
