Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing
We are looking for a Health and Safety Business Partner to partner with, and support, our North Island Generation Assets. We have a strong safety culture at Meridian, where everybody plays a role in ensuring a healthy and safe work environment, so the Health and Safety Business Partner must be a strong collaborator - supporting our teams to strengthen health and safety outcomes and promote a strong safety culture.
Meridian has a diverse workforce and some pretty unique work environments. How we approach health and safety across all these different environments and groups of people is key and it’ll take someone special who can be gutsy enough to approach safety in different ways.
As part of our Health and Safety team, you will provide technical advice on how best to manage H&S risks and ensure our H&S systems are the best they can be, but the most important aspect of the role will be engaging our people at all levels of the business in our health and safety programmes and supporting a culture of learning and continuously improving.
Ngā painga ki a mātou | What we can offer
We value work/life balance so our flexible work options make things easier for you and your whānau. We also offer:
Ngā pukenga kei a koe mō tenei tūranga | What you’ll bring
We are looking for a safety champion with the ability to be the enabler, the wingperson to our teams on the ground, the driver of change, the motivator, keeping safety simple in a complex world. You’ll be the coach who empowers frontline workers and leaders in owning health and safety outcomes.
You’ll have an understanding of Health and Safety law, Safety II principles, regulations and other industry requirements, but more importantly you’ll be a strong relationship builder who can role their sleeves up and work alongside our people to achieve the best outcomes.
While a relevant qualification in H&S would be great, we’re more interested in your experience and your ability to facilitate change, make improvements and influence stakeholders. We would also be open to someone from an operations and maintenance background who has a good understanding and knowledge of Health and Safety.
You’ll need to be comfortable with regular travel to our sites across NZ, particularly in the North Island, averaging around two to three times per month.
