Job Description - Health and Safety Facilitator

Community Living provides a range of services to people with intellectual disabilities, embracing a person-centred approach.  Our aim is to maximise the independence and quality of life for people we support while building and developing partnerships with whaanau / families and communities.

About the role

We are looking for someone with a passion for and commitment to health and safety management. As part of a small Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, you will work across the organisation to implement and monitor our health and safety systems and processes while fostering a positive culture. This involves strong relationship building, visiting sites, presenting training to staff, overseeing incident response and providing advice for risk management to name a few. 

This role will give you the opportunity to further develop your Health and safety career and bring great satisfaction by working in a person-centred environment.

About you

Essential requirements:

  • Have been in a health and safety role within an organisation for at least 3 years undertaking the full spectrum of health and safety functions. This may include being a worker representative in an organisation.
  • Have at least the NZ Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety (Level 3).
  • A working knowledge of NZ health and safety legislation.
  • Experience and passion for delivering health and safety training.
  • Having lived or work experience in the disability sector is preferred.
  • Understanding and upholding the Articles and Principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and awareness of New Zealand as a multi-cultural society. 
  • Hold a full, clean NZ driver's licence. 
  • Be able to satisfactorily pass Police checks.

  • Located in Hamilton with some travel to the Bay of Plenty
