Switched On Housing works alongside Kāinga Ora to maintain and improve homes, helping ensure whānau have places to live that are warm, safe and fit for purpose. We are proud to be part of Kā te Rama Switched On Group and are committed to creating positive outcomes for the communities we serve.
We are looking for a motivated and practical Health and Safety Officer to join our team on a fixed-term contract, based in either Christchurch or Nelson. As part of our national Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, you will primarily support either our Canterbury operations or our Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast operations. While the role will have a regional focus, you will also provide support and cover across both regions as required. You will work closely with frontline teams, subcontractors and operational leaders who value honest advice, common sense and a practical pragmatic approach.
Your role will see you regularly out on site, working alongside Delivery Supervisors and tradespeople to investigate incidents, deliver toolbox talks, check that risk controls are working in practice, and help find practical solutions when things are not quite right. You may be coaching teams through face-to-face safety conversations one day, then completing assurance inspections or supporting a return-to-work plan the next.
Every day you will play a key role in embedding a strong culture of safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement across our sites.
