Job Description - Health, Safety & Quality Lead

The role 


Don’t miss this opportunity to step into a fundamental role in an established high performing team. You will be integral to delivering health and safety expertise within a unique collaborative contract agreement. Partner with operational leaders to drive a compliance to care approach, where legislation, risk awareness, and people-focused practices work hand in hand. You will be instrumental in shaping not just our safety systems, but also aligning our company values, vision, and strategic objectives across the business.  


 


The Organisation 


Civtec was established 2014 and has had a strong upward trajectory since then. Civtec provide, telecommunications, directional drilling, and utilities works. Since inception we have continued to diversify and now have capabilities covering a range of services and technologies servicing the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. We have a dedicated team of Field Technicians, Designers and Engineers together with the latest technology and high-quality machinery provide civil and undergrounding services. 


 


The role;  



  • Lead the development and implementation of health, safety, quality and risk management strategies, plans, and objectives aligned with organisational goals. 



  • Champion a compliance to care approach that embeds psychological safety, wellbeing. And trust alongside traditional safety measures. 



  • Lead the development, implementation, and review of the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS). 



  • Promote a risk-based approach to safety, aligning with company values, vision, and strategic objectives.  



  • Facilitate regular health and safety audits, site inspections, and assurance activities. 



  • Build culture and capability through coaching, meaningful engagement, and the delivery of safety and quality programmes. 



  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to monitor safety and quality of work and identify areas for improvement. 



  • Ability to effectively bridge the gap between operational needs and regulatory or policy requirements, providing health and safety solutions that are safe, efficient and compliant.  



  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop, implement and drive initiatives within a fast-paced environment. 



  • Develop and monitor KPIs for quality performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives. 


To be successful in this role, we are seeking candidates with: 



  • Minimum 4 years previous experience in a Health and Safety advisory role, or similar, in New Zealand or Australia. 



  • NZQA Level 4 Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent industry experience.  



  • Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) and its amendments, and other relevant legislation, regulations, and approved codes of practice applicable to business operations.  



  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of quality assurance frameworks and systems. 



  • Proven experience of maintaining ‘fit for purpose’ Health and Safety Management Systems relevant to the organization, its size and risk profile. 



  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Able to tailor messages for diverse audiences, ensuring clear and impactful delivery of health and safety information with excellent attention to detail. 



  • High levels of problem-solving skills and emotional intelligence to navigate complex issues. 



  • Ability to work autonomously and build and sustain strong and collaborative relationships with stakeholders 



  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering tangible results.
