Job Description - Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner - Excellent Benefits Package

We have embarked on multiple infrastructure projects around our precinct, making this an exciting opportunity for a skilled and enthusiastic Health, Safety and Well-Being Business Partner to join our dynamic team partnering with our Infrastructure business.

 

About the role

Partnering with our Infrastructure major projects unit, Airside and Landside teams, you will bring your Health, Safety & Wellbeing construction and infrastructure expertise to help us ensure people safety from design through operational lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the Senior HSW Business Partner to deliver HSW outcomes
  • Ensure that project planning and design adequately account for health, safety, and wellbeing risks that may arise throughout the project/asset construction face and operational lifecycle
  • Ensure that the design considerations effectively eliminate, mitigate, or manage risks.
  • Evaluate and review stakeholder construction management plans, processes and procedures  ensuring they align with legislative, best practice and Auckland Airport guidelines
  • Facilitate engagement among project, operational, and maintenance teams, both prior to and during the handover process, with a specific focus on ensuring a seamless transition of health, safety, and wellbeing considerations from the project phase to operational activities
  • Provide comprehensive guidance to the Projects Team, ensuring a thorough understanding of their responsibilities and obligations in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) 2015 and Auckland Airport's Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Management System
  • Furnish comprehensive project reports, encompassing learnings, achievements, risk identification and mitigation, contractor incident data gathering, and timely and accurate updates of weekly and monthly progress
  • Manage, support and influence serious event investigations and notifications, documenting the factors that contributed to the event; work closely with senior project team members and the Senior HSWBP to ensure timely submission of reports

 

What you’ll bring to the role

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
  • 5-10 years’ experience in HS&W roles is required, however, 5+ years’ experience specialising in construction will be extremely valuable
  • A strong leader and team player, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functional lines
  • Sound business writing and verbal communication skills
  • A customer-centric mindset coupled with excellent relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated success in influencing change and effecting good outcomes
  • Ability to think strategically and manage business complexity
  • Sound working knowledge of relevant legal frameworks in New Zealand
  • Sound understanding of how on-line incident reporting and risk management systems are structured and the ability to follow due diligence processes with regards to evaluation and adoption of new technologies
