Job Description - Health, Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner

With 250 sites, 10,000 team members and 80% of New Zealanders shopping at our three store brands, we have a big health & safety responsibility. The safety of our team members, contractors and customer’s is paramount.

We now have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner to come on board and work across our Central North Island Retail network to help support and drive our Health, Safety & Wellbeing initiatives.

Job Description



This role will cover Central North Island (South Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Whakatane, Gisborne and Taupo) and will require regular travel.

Reporting into the Chapter Area Lead – HR Strategy, Remuneration & Business Partnering, your day-to-day will see you partnering with People Managers across our Retail Network in the central North Island to ensure on the ground support.

Drawing on your toolkit of skills and experience you will:

  • Offer sound HSW advice & coaching to all stakeholders and people leaders
  • Work ‘hands on’ to advise on all areas of HSW, including areas such as HSW compliance, critical risk management, hazardous substances management, injury management etc.
  • Complete site assurance reviews as per the annual plan and support the business units to complete actions arising from these reviews
  • Complete investigations for incidents with actual or potential for significant harm, within the agreed time frames, ensuring all required information is obtained and communicated with corrective actions put in place to prevent reoccurrences
  • Ensure key controls for critical risks are implemented and being practiced within each applicable site

Qualifications



To succeed in this busy role, you will be a passionate, people’s person, who builds relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, with ease. You will be confident in holding others accountable, whilst demonstrating empathy.

Also on our wish list:

  • Sound Health and Safety industry experience
  • Having a Diploma in OHS or NEBOSH Equivalent, is advantageous but not essential
  • An in-depth understanding and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in New Zealand and its application in the workplace
  • Experience in critical risk management
  • Solid experience in assurance reviews or HSW Auditing
  • Having multi-site experience, this is fundamental to the role
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex ideas
  • Driven and result - oriented “doer”
