Heavy Diesel Workshop Supervisor

• Remuneration reviews every 3 months for the first 9 months

About the Role

As a Heavy Equipment Diesel Supervisor, you will be at the heart of our client’s operations, overseeing the maintenance and repair of their customers mobile assets.  This workshop has many moving parts where no day is the same and priorities can change at any given time.

• Supervise a team of 10 skilled diesel mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, cranes and trucks.
• Conduct thorough inspections to ensure all equipment meets safety standards and operational efficiency.
• Diagnose complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Manage parts inventory, order supplies, and work within budget constraints to maintain cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure all activities comply with company policies and regulatory standards, prioritising a safe work environment.
• Time sheet management and reporting
• Client liaison

About You

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in diesel mechanics with at least 2 years as a supervisor in a heavy equipment or similar environment (Mining, Forestry would be favorable) 
• Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy machinery. 
• Familiarity with hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and computerized diagnostic tools.
• Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and motivating a team.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
• Effective communication and numerical skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with team members, management, external vendors and clients
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Relevant qualifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance
