Our Geospatial Services Team has clients from sectors as diverse as transport, water, energy, telecommunications, land development, residential design and heritage. We aspire to be New Zealand’s leading high precision geospatial experts.
THE ROLE
We are seeking motivated Highway Field Technicians to join our Geospatial team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting data collection surveys as well as driving survey vehicles across New Zealand. We are looking for individuals who are quick learners, thrive on challenges, and are comfortable working away from home for extended periods.
Each team has two Field Technicians/Drivers, working together based out of our Hamilton office. Work will be conducted throughout most of NZ, with the majority of it being between Waikato and Wellington.
The role involves rostered shifts and there a substantial amount of weekend work and time away from home. Therefore, flexibility is a must.
It is important that you have great computer and communication skills, as you are required to ensure the safe and timely execution of data collection surveys. You will be responsible for survey execution, equipment, and survey team members. You will be able to perform calibration and validation procedures with data collection equipment. In addition, you will need to prepare reports, and perform some office and warehouse tasks, so knowledge of MS products is essential. On the job training is provided.
Part of this role also requires you to drive the survey vehicle in a safe manner required to undertake the survey in accordance with the test procedures and quality assurance requirements. The survey vehicle collects important highway information, which is supplied to Council and contractors. The data it collects includes, roughness, rutting, texture data, road geometry and cracking and video imagery.
When applicable a Living Away Allowance is included. Due to the nature of our business and the role; random drugs and alcohol tests may apply.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• You have an electronic and technical aptitude and be mechanically minded.
• You can produce quality work and show a strong attention to detail.
• You have excellent organisational skills and be self-motivated.
• You are a team player who can work independently when required.
• You have a positive attitude to work and a willingness to learn new techniques.
• Experience with GPS equipment and systems.
• Knowledge of the State Highway and local referencing system would be an advantage.
• Be able to travel throughout New Zealand and stay away for periods of time.
• Be able to work at night and weekends as required.
• You must have a full and clean NZ Class 1 vehicle licence.
• You must have permanent rights to work in NZ, with no restrictions
