Job Description - HR Manager

We are currently recruiting a newly created role, HR Manager, for one of New Zealand’s largest privately owned Traffic Services Company based right here in Tauranga. Spray Marks NZ has been around for over 30 years, and they are your first point of contact for traffic management, road marking or road services in the North Island.

As HR Manager you will focus on talent attraction; collaborating closely with the leadership team to ensure that employees have the necessary tools and resources to perform at their best; and designing and implementing general HR procedures across the organisation. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will cultivate an environment where the Spray Marks NZ team can thrive, and by developing effective people processes you will contribute to business growth.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Recruitment - work with people leaders to plan resources, including job description design and manage and coordinate all aspects of the recruitment process, including onboarding.
  • Develop an employment brand and strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with people leaders to understand current and future technical capability requirements.
  • Review current HR Policies and procedures, and design and implement new ones according to business requirements.
  • Support the payroll function by being a go-to person for policy and legislative guidance.
  • Support and enable people leaders to engage in performance management, employee engagement and management development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the Spray Marks NZ health and safety culture by playing a key role in employee wellbeing initiatives.
Background required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a sole HR role, with at least 5-7 years’ experience in HR overall.
  • Experience with a wide range of Microsoft products.
  • Working knowledge of an HRIS, performance management and/or employee engagement platform.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, flexible team environment.
  • The ability to deal with uncomfortable situations, working with empathy and discretion.
