Job Description - Hydraulic Modeller

Our Water team works across water, wastewater, stormwater, surface waters and irrigation, partnering with clients spanning the municipal, industrial, transportation, commercial, mining and agricultural sectors. We’re excited about the opportunities ahead and are well placed to help Aotearoa New Zealand advance and protect our world for future generations. We all go to work to make the everyday better in some way. Beca’s work impacts the everyday lives of almost everyone, every day.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
To be part of our motivated and trusted Water team of engineers, scientists, project managers, modellers and designers, we’re looking for a Hydraulic Modeller who specialises in wastewater and water supply. We have opportunities available across our offices in New Zealand.

We’re seeking a highly motivated individual who is dedicated to developing and sharing technical innovation to push boundaries, continually challenge conventions and overcome constraints to make the everyday better. Every day will provide you with new challenges and look a little different.

Overall, this role will see you:

  • Build and calibrate hydrological and hydraulic models of wastewater and water networks
  • Analyse and assess hydraulic, GIS and survey data
  • Utilise GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Undertake modelling investigations, master planning, and growth and development studies
  • Support our senior engineers in the delivery of planning, feasibility and strategy studies, and concept design for a range of water, wastewater and recycled water engineering projects
  • Provide outputs suitable for review by specialist team members

Ko wai koe | About you
You are a highly motivated Hydraulic Modeller looking to grow within the Water market, with a strong track record in successfully delivering modelling projects in a consulting environment. You hold a Bachelor of Science, Engineering or another relevant qualification, and have over six years of relevant work experience.

You’ll have a solid grounding in the theory of wastewater and water supply hydraulics, and experience using modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM and WS Pro.

Your experience spans technical delivery and client-facing activities, and you have a natural ability to build wide and effective networks of contacts inside and outside the organisation ultimately leading to ongoing work and repeat business.

You love to learn, share knowledge and bring a fresh perspective to support the development of those around you. You constantly seek better practice to enhance the overall quality of our work and client experience.
