Join our team in Palmerston North as the IDC General Worker

Join our team supporting the IDC maintenance contract and play an important role in maintaining the quality and safety of roads across our region’s highways.

As a Pavement General Worker, you’ll be working for a leading hand and foreman to ensure that all work is undertaken to contract specifications. This work includes but is not limited to : pre-seal repairs, pavement dig outs, high and low shoulder repairs, water tabling, general road and cycleway/footpath construction, as well as any other planned maintenance as part of our IDC contract.  Where required, operating and maintaining specialised machinery and tools, and ensuring safety on site by setting up barricades and warning signs, directing traffic, and performing precision repairs such as filling potholes and sealing cracks.

In addition to the above you will:

• Surface preparation and debris removal
• Material handling and levelling
• Operation and maintenance of machinery and tools
• Safety management and precision repair work

We’re looking for someone with:

• Minimum Full Class 1 licence, Class 2 preferred
• WTR preferred but not essential
• Experience in roadworks, construction preferably in maintenance
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Experience with hand tools
• Reliable, punctual and able to work without constant supervision
• Flexibility to work on a day/night roster as required
