You will undertake tasks associated with electrical substation construction and maintenance. The successful candidate will provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective construction, installation, repair, assembly, maintenance, and modification of all types of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus. This role also involves contributing to the overall growth of the business, developing personal skills and abilities, and supporting the delivery of expected business results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation: Install HV and LV substation equipment efficiently and accurately.
• Testing: Conduct primary plant testing to ensure all equipment functions correctly.
• Work Site Management: Participate in work site management, including conducting risk assessments.
• Customer Relations: Maintain positive customer relations through effective communication and service delivery.
• Quality Assurance: Work as part of the Electrical Services Team to achieve and maintain high levels of work quality.
• Health, Safety, and Environment: Identify and manage hazards, ensuring team members are informed and safe.
• Additional Tasks: Prepare and maintain detailed records of tests, repairs, and maintenance. Participate in after-hours standby roster and project work as required.

Experience and Skills:
 
Certification: Certified electrician with NZ registration or eligibility for NZ registration.

• Experience in the High Voltage Electrical industry is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment.
• Physically fit, especially for heavy lifting, stretching, and climbing. No pacemaker and physically flexible.
• Full driver’s license and experience driving in various conditions.
• Proficient in interpreting written and spoken English. Fluent verbal and good written English skills.
• Ability to identify and control hazards and risks. High understanding of and adherence to Health and Safety practices and regulations.

Technical Proficiency:

• Repair and maintenance experience with Tyree, ABB, Fuji, Siemens transformers (Rheinhausen OLTC experience desired).
• Experience with HV/LV Circuit Breakers: SF6, Bulk Oil, Minimum Oil, SF6, and Air Blast.
• Maintenance and testing of Instrument transformers.
• Proficiency in welding, gas fitting, rigging, and crane operation.
• Experience with elevated work platforms, working at heights, confined spaces, and hazardous substances.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical theory.
• Proficiency in using hand tools for construction and maintenance.
