The Opportunity | Te āheinga


We're looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded Librarian to join the team at the Inglewood Library on a 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover.


 


Reporting to the Community Library Supervisor, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality library and customer services to the Inglewood community. From helping customers access library resources and Council services, to supporting programmes, events and everyday library operations, you'll be at the heart of creating a positive and engaging experience for our customers.

This position is 14.5 hours per week and works on a Monday to Saturday roster, providing flexibility while supporting the library's operating hours and community needs.

Key Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa matua



  • Undertake rostered shifts to deliver efficient and effective service of Library and Council Services including public computer and printing services, RFID circulation, Readers Advisory, reference and directional assistance, Council service enquiries and transactions..

  • Proactively assess and prioritise customer needs, responding to their requirements through the provision of professional services at all times.

  • Ensure that customers are assisted to be self-sufficient in their use of the Library’s technology.

  • Provide circulation support functions and ensure the Library and its collections are presented in an attractive and tidy manner.

  • Provide efficient and effective services and programmes for all ages.

  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development, revision of library policies and procedures to ensure that they are current and updated as required.

  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation.


 


 


Essential Skills and Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako



  • A relevant Library qualification or working towards one is desirable

  • Experience in public libraries and competency in library systems

  • Able to build and maintain successful relationships with individuals and community groups

  • Proven experience and literacy of a wide range of technology and systems ie internet, digital services and MS products.
