About the role:

The Inwards Team Manager directs, co-ordinates, supervises and achieves service objectives regarding day-to-day operations within their designated team, ensuring that tasks are completed in the safest and efficient manner in line with agreed standards in operational procedures, national strategy and in a manner ensuring regulatory and legislative compliance at all times. The Inwards Team Manager works across multiple operational functions including local and overseas receiving (inbound), stock and inventory control, systems management within the sortation (XDOCK) department, despatch and delivery scheduling (outbound), pallet control and manning (rostering). 

 

Duties:

  • Ensure all inwards areas and functions are managed efficiently
  • Plan and coordinate all inwards functions, including yard, crossdock and manifest
  • Supervise and lead and well performing and empowered team
  • Proactively Leads safety Culture – ensures site complies with all legislative and company safety requirements and manages any breeches
  • Unload trucks and containers as per safety operation procedures with Forklift
  • Unload trucks and containers, sort product by SKU and receive into WMS
  • Ensure that the SCS OHS Policy is available and its provisions are implemented across the business.
  • Ensure that the business(s) Management Systems are effectively implemented in compliance with the SCS OHS Performance Standard and related SCS policies.
  • Allocate appropriate supervisory resources to ensure that:
  • employees adhere to safe work procedures 
  • OHS concerns and reported hazards are addressed in a timely manner
  • All incidents, near misses and injuries are reported in accordance with the incident reporting procedures, including the timely reporting to public authorities when required.
  • effective investigations are carried out and corrective/preventive measures taken
  • appropriate counselling and disciplinary action is taken for OHS breaches
  • Comply with legislative OHS requirements.
  • Ensure that OHS communication and consultation occurs within the business. 
  • Ensure that relevant OHS reports and audit results are communicated within the business.
  • Ensure that the OHS Plan is monitored, and reviewed with resources provided for support.
  • Ensure that fatigue management procedures are developed, implemented and reviewed at operational sites
  • Leads business improvement through analysing current business practices, researching & sourcing initiatives to improve business practices, profitability and client contract and relationship 
  • Facilitates & monitors continuous improvement, drives the CI programs.
  • Contribute to Site Budget and strategies to achieve it both through business initiatives and developing and empowering employees reporting to them
  • Responsible for contributing to the financial performance of cost centres 
  • Analyses current business practices and initiates improvements
  • Sources and nurtures business opportunities
  • Manages Relationship with client management group
  • Resolves escalated issues while retaining relationship and business 
  • Actively leads new business Implementations.
  • Mentors and coaches direct reports including Team Members
  • Escalate site HR/IR matters
  • Contributes to succession planning, this is a key area.

 

Competencies required:

  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Exposure to WMS (Warehouse Management Systems exposure) 
  • Preference for experience using Colosys WMS
  • Must have a minimum six months 3PL experience
  • Must have a minimum six months MHE – Forklift certification
  • Must have a minimum six months MHE – Aislemaster/ Bendi, Counterbalance and Stock Picker certification
  • Must have a current Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) Accredited Person Certification
  • Must have Diploma in Supply Chain and Shipping  Management – Level 7 or higher
