Junior and Youth Participation Manager - Urgent Hire

ABOUT TENNIS NEW ZEALAND:

Tennis New Zealand is the national body for tennis in New Zealand and is responsible for the administration and management of tennis in New Zealand. More than 300,000 people play tennis in New Zealand, making it on the countries' most popular participation sports. Tennis New Zealand staff deliver a range of national and international tennis events, including involvement with the ASB Classic each year.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Working in the Sport Development Team, the role of the Junior and Youth Participation Manager is to ensure the growth and development of tennis participation for rangatahi and tamariki across New Zealand. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Main Responsibilities 
Junior and Youth Participation 

• Working with Regions/Associations and Clubs, design and implement strategies to grow the participation of tamariki and rangatahi in tennis nationally.  
• Identify opportunities to expand access to tennis among diverse communities (including disability) and underrepresented groups, working to remove barriers to participation and create inclusive environments.  
• In alignment with the TNZ Youth Advisory Group, lead the implementation of strategies and programmes designed to engage tamariki and rangatahi in participation of Tennis. 
• Establish partnerships with schools to integrate Tennis into broader curriculum activities and connect participants to local clubs and facilities. 
• Working closely with the Coach Development team, identify strategies and opportunities for attracting and retaining youth coaches. 
• Monitor and gather feedback and insights from participants into the shape and direction of Tennis participation in the Junior and Youth space.  
• Collaborate with the marketing team to create and execute promotional campaigns targeting junior tamariki and rangatahi and their families, leveraging various channels such as social media, email, newsletter and local events.   

National Programme Management 

• Lead the delivery and communication of the National Participation Programmes (with a primary focus on Tennis Hot Shots) to Regions/Associations and Clubs. 
• Grow the number of venues and participants delivering National Programmes (with a primary focus on Tennis Hot Shots) 
• Work with the Communications Manager on communications including newsletters, social media, internal, external, and public comms. 
• Facilitate the education, in conjunction with the Coach Development Team, of coaches and clubs to deliver the National Programmes 
• Monitor and report on national participation programme statistics as required. 
• Maintain all participation programme information in the National Database 
• Monitor programme effectiveness through regular evaluation and feedback mechanisms, implementing improvements as necessary to enhance participant experience and retention.

• Prioritise workload to ensure work of the greatest importance to the business is undertaken with urgency and to a high standard. 
• Support and help develop a positive workplace culture.
