Te whiwhinga mahi: The opportunity


We are seeking a fixed term (24 months), full time Kaiāwhina – Child Health Service to join our new Immunisation Service team in Taranaki.


 


Foster relationships between patients, their whānau, child health nurse, outreach and their primary health care team. Work alongside our child health nurse to support patients to make positive and informative decisions regarding immunisation.


 


The Taranaki Child Health Service aims to improve immunisation coverage and ensure families in the Taranaki region have access to immunisation support to empower them and make informed decisions regarding immunisation. Support the team in reducing barriers to immunisation, and the declining rate of Māori & Pasifika Tamariki and other high priority groups.


 


He kōrero mōu: About you 



  • Experience working in customer service and in a team environment.

  • Understanding of patient data systems.

  • Ability to build strong relationships.

  • Current full driver’s license.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, be flexible and self-motivated.

  • A strong understanding of Tikanga Māori along with a sound understanding of the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how these relate to specific initiatives for Māori health.

  • Have an active interest and involvement in the local Taranaki community and particularly supporting the hauora aspirations of local Iwi.

  • Experience and understanding of sensitivity working with different cultures.

  • A passion for continuous improvement and ongoing learning.

  • First aid certificate (preferred, not essential)
