About the role
As Key Account Manager - Foodstuffs South Island, you’ll own the delivery of the Foodstuffs South Island account, developing and executing account plans and driving strong commercial outcomes across the New World, Pak'nSave and Four-Square South Island banners. Reporting to the National Sales Manager - Grocery, you’ll lead the Head Office relationships for Foodstuffs South Island, working cross‑functionally to deliver profitable growth through best‑in‑class execution, planning and customer engagement. You’ll also lead and develop a Key Account Executive, supporting capability and ensuring delivery of key account priorities.
What you will be doing:
- Deliver volume, value, profit, trade spend and market share targets across Foodstuffs South Island
- Develop and execute the account plan aligned to the national Grocery strategy and commercial priorities
- Lead day-to-day customer relationships, building strong partnerships across key stakeholders
- Drive excellence in NPD and promotional execution to maximise growth and return on investment
- Implement agreed trading terms and identify opportunities to optimise performance within commercial frameworks
- Develop and deliver the promotional calendar, using analysis and insights to improve ROI
- Work closely with the South Island based field team to ensure priorities are clearly communicated and executed in store
- Work cross‑functionally with Category, Supply Chain and Finance to deliver aligned customer outcomes
- Provide clear, timely performance reporting and actionable insights to the business
- Ensure strong alignment between account plans and S&OP processes, supporting accurate forecasting and execution
- Lead, coach and develop a Key Account Executive, building capability and supporting performance
- This role will be based in Auckland and require regular travel to the South Island (approx. one x overnight per month)
What you’ll bring:
- Experience within FMCG Grocery, either as a Key Account Manager or a high-performing Key Account Executive ready to step up
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience contributing to delivery of P&L outcomes
- Proven ability to manage customer relationships and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical capability, with the ability to translate data into clear actions
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and build alignment across internal teams
- High level of organisation, ownership and attention to detail
- Experience with Foodstuffs and category management tools (NIQ) preferred
