Tauhara North No2 Trust is a successful Māori owned organisation, delivering a wide range of services to our owners and their whanau living throughout New Zealand. We currently have a fulltime vacancy for an experienced Kitchen Assistant to join our team based in our Whakatane site.
Ka Pai Kai is a social enterprise which provides tamariki affordable healthy lunch options in schools. Ka Pai Kai Aotearoa’s mission is to nourish the minds of our future generation. We do this by making healthy and delicious school lunches, fresh to order each day.
As we continue to expand, we seek a Kitchen Assistant based at our site in Whakatane. This is a perfect opportunity for a talented individual who is ready to take the next step in their career. The role of Kitchen assistant is to provide healthy, wholesome, nutritious meals to our Tamariki and from time to time the wider community, by adhering to Ministry of Education guidelines, adhering to established Standard operating procedures, effective communication & collaboration in our production site.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Prepare, cook & assemble all food products required for school lunches
• Ensure food production follows KPKA menus, recipes, and methods of cookery
• Maintain safe work practices in line with standard operational procedures, health & safety processes, food safety (HASSAP) & employee wellbeing in all kitchens
• Provide feedback of new food ideas
• Advise Food production supervisors & Manager of any surplus stock. Ensure all stock is stored and rotated correctly, including labelling & dating
• Advise of site repairs and maintenance
• Advise of any role number changes to ensure production levels are adjusted accordingly
• Assist the logistics team with service, delivery, loading & unloading of products
• Always ensure clean and tidy workspace. Wash & store all dishes as required
• Know your daily, weekly work plan
Key Attributes:
• Able to work under pressure. Attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills and multitasking capabilities. Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Basic knowledge of cookery and food production preferred.
• Fluency in Te Reo Māori ideal
• Able to work with diverse groups throughout the community
• Full Driver’s License preferred
