LABTEC is an IANZ accredited laboratory with a strong focus on the delivery of on-time, quality results for our clients. LABTEC has earned a reputation for providing bespoke scientific support to clients from diverse industries. We offer dedicated analytical services and scientific input across a variety of industries via a well-equipped laboratory facility, based in Auckland’s central suburb of Penrose. LABTEC provides a range of testing and laboratory services from small scale product manufacture through to independent product QC analysis, analysis of diesel exhaust fluids and environmental methamphetamine contamination testing.

Job Description

LABTEC is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team in Auckland and provide technical and scientific support for a diverse range of testing capabilities and formulation work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sample Receipt – record accurate details of samples received and ensure complete chain of custody
  • Preparation and analysis - prepare samples for analysis using appropriate analytical techniques such as HPLC, LCMS, MP-AES, GC or XRF
  • Quality control - adhere to all quality control requirements
  • Continuous improvement – proactively take steps to learn and understand test methods and procedures
  • Housekeeping and sample disposal – keep lab areas clean, ensure glassware is washed promptly, and samples are disposed appropriately and according to schedule
  • Actively engage with Workplace Health, Safety & Environment procedures

Desired Skills and Experience

This is an entry level position, but the following is advantageous:

  • A minimum of BSc in Chemistry or related subject
  • Experience with wet chemical analysis and instrumental techniques, such as HPLC, GC, MP-AES, XRF.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Have the ability to meet tight deadlines & work under pressure
  • Be reliable & self-motivated
  • Be a team player
  • Passion for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated understanding of chemical safety
