Reporting to: Mercy Ships New Zealand National Director
Direct Reports : None
Key Stakeholders: Medical community, Global Recruiting, MSNZ Recruiting Team, MSNZ Staff
Employment Type: Full or Part time (30 – 40 hours) Permanent
Location: Auckland (possibly remote for the right candidate)
 

Overview: Mercy Ships New Zealand (MSNZ) is a faith-based charity focused on raising awareness, recruiting volunteers, and fundraising for the world’s largest civilian hospital ships, Africa Mercy and Global Mercy, which provide medical services in sub-Saharan Africa. Mercy Ships vision it to use hospital ships to transform lives and serve nations, with its mission of following the example of Jesus bringing hope and healing to the world’s forgotten poor.

Mercy Ships New Zealand is seeking a passionate and proactive Lead Medical Volunteers Recruiter to enhance their mission of delivering free healthcare. This role is crucial for identifying and attracting medical volunteers who embody the values and vision of Mercy Ships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment Strategy Development: Design and execute innovative strategies to attract medical volunteers.
  • Collaboration: Work with global recruiting to manage the engagement journey for potential applicants.
  • Lead Generation: Actively source new volunteer leads and manage engagement using Salesforce and other CRM platforms, ensuring a smooth application process. Utilise global and local recruitment data to plan successful recruitment campaigns.
  • Networking: Build and maintain a network of potential candidates through professional associations, medical organisations, and online platforms.
  • Source Passive Candidates: Utilise online tools and resources to find and engage with passive candidates. Have an active presence online.
  • Community Engagement: Implement initiatives through career centres, churches, academic departments, and specialty networks to attract volunteers.
  • Salesforce and Pardot Integration: Incorporate and utilise IT processes and systems into MSNZ’s Volunteer Recruitment procedures.
  • Strategic Recruitment: Contribute to strategic market planning, KPIs and to  position-focused recruiting strategies.
  • Event Participation: Assist with conferences and recruiting opportunities, and support MSNZ recruitment campaigns.
  • Advertising: Research and recommend advertising venues, develop effective job postings, place approved ads, and monitor their performance.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Motivated Networker: Outgoing and self-driven, with a strong ability to network and find suitable volunteer candidates. Passion for people and making a difference.
  • Marketing and Recruitment Experience: Previous marketing and recruitment experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Communication: Clear and efficient phone manner.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Salesforce, Pardot, and LinkedIn preferred.
  • Team Player: Enthusiastic team player willing to collaborate closely with international and local teams.

  • Team player committed to supporting the recruitment of medical volunteers.
  • Seeks out volunteer applicants and collaborates closely with New Zealand staff and the global recruiting team.
  • Represents Mercy Ships’ mission of following the 2000-year-old model of Jesus in providing hope and healing.
  • Participates in Mercy Ships New Zealand office activities including devotions based on Don Stephens, ‘Daily dose of mercy’, staff development and team meetings.
