The opportunity has arisen to work as a Libraries & Council Services Assistant in the Upper Harbour and Hibiscus and Bays South Local Board Libraries, based at East Coast Bays Library. 

East Coast Bays Library is a busy community library serving a diverse and vibrant community. Our library whānau is focused on caring for each other, our community, and our environment. We are looking for a flexible all-rounder to join and contribute as part of a high-achieving, cohesive, and dynamic team. You will be supporting the team and contributing to the day-to-day running of the library. As this is a customer service role, you will be helping customers from all walks of life.

We are open 7 days a week so flexibility around working days, including weekends and late nights, is required. We are looking to fill a 22-hour part-time position, shifts include weekend days (Sunday).

You will have strong people skills, are flexible and adaptable to a library environment. You have a passion for customer service with a positive attitude towards serving people of all ages and backgrounds. You are eager to learn new skills and thrive in a busy work environment.

We are looking for someone who:

• Brings a can-do attitude – reliable, full of ideas, and ready to make things happen.

• Is reliable, adaptable and fosters great relationships with the team and our community.


• Can demonstrate experience working with a diverse range of people.


• Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills with a strong people focus.


• Demonstrates an understanding of Te Ao Māori values and principles.

Salary: This role is salary band E, we expect to appoint the successful candidate at a salary of between $65-$77K depending upon skills & experience.
