Haycocks Station is a large Pāmu farm stretching 37km along the Mavora Valley.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Step into a dynamic role as a Machinery Operator at Haycocks Station where your hands-on skills will help drive the success of our farm operations.
You’ll be responsible for a fleet of four john deere tractors and associated machinery, coordinating their ongoing maintenance.
Your day could include anything from feeding out, gravelling and grading roads, heavy rolling, mowing, carting fencing gear, keeping fertiliser and seed levels up, general farm maintenance and assisting with other farm duties when required.
As part of our close-knit team (currently seven), you’ll help maintain the property and assets, ensuring everything runs smoothly and securely.
You’ll be trusted to work independently, flexibly adapting to changing priorities and a variety of tasks, while always keeping safety, animal welfare, and environmental compliance front of mind.

ABOUT HAYCOCKS STATION
Haycocks Station is a large Pāmu farm stretching for 37km along the Mavora Valley, its operational strength lies in the balance between highly productive, flat river terraces along the valley floor and vast tracts of improved tussock hill country.
Haycocks is situated about 30 minutes from Te Anau and within two hours of Invercargill and Queenstown. It offers space, variety, and a strong connection to the land, with access to nearby towns and outdoor lifestyle options.
The 6,242 effective hectare property runs around 39,000 stock units, including 11,000 Romney ewes, 3,000 hoggets, 1,900 Angus breeding cows and heifers, and 5,500 red deer hinds. Haycocks plays an important role in providing quality livestock to Pamu’s finishing farms, where all progeny excluding replacements are sent at weaning.

You’ll bring:
Experience with farm tractors and machinery
Able to work independently and adapt to changing tasks
Proactive about health, safety, animal welfare, and the environment
Strong communicator with managers, staff, contractors, and suppliers
Accurate with record-keeping and reporting – and enjoy using and learning new systems
Willing to help train and induct new staff
A valid NZ driver’s licence
