Job Description - Maintenance Engineer (Electrical and Mechanical)

Willow Tree is a fresh produce processor with a range of retail and foodservice offerings. Our facility combines technology with a commitment to excellence in food processing, to deliver high-quality products to our customers.

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer specialising in both Electrical and Mechanical systems, to join our Mount Wellington (Auckland) team, on a permanent full-time basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our packhouse machinery and equipment. Including servicing equipment at our floral and general produce packing operations.

About the job:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, both proactively and reactively, to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Develop, implement, and execute an effective preventative maintenance program, to prolong machinery lifespan and reduce the likelihood of breakdowns.
  • Promptly respond to breakdown call outs and carry out repairs as required.
  • Engage your resourceful nature and apt problem-solving abilities to minimise downtime and operational disruption.
  • Support the team with machine and process optimisation.
  • Assist with machinery changeovers and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Manage costs associated with asset care.
  • Contribute to project management of capital expenditure and plant asset improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts inventory and service schedules.
  • Adhere to the highest level of prescribed safety and regulatory standards and procedures at all times.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements and technology to suggest and implement innovative solutions.

About you:

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer/Technician, or similar role, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
  • Attention to detail and proven skills in fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience as a trade qualified, preferably dual trade (Mechanical/Electrical) with mechanical bias, Maintenance Engineer.
  • Experience with reliability testing methods and tools.
