About us

Situated on a unique vantage point with breath taking views over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Mountain range, Mercure Queenstown Resort offers 148 guests rooms, two restaurants, a lounge bar and conference facilities.  

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Handyperson to help keep our hotel in top condition and our guests’ experiences seamless, assisting in the day-to-day operation of the maintenance requirements of the hotel. Working alongside our Chief Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in ensuring our facilities are safe, functional, and looking their best, from sparkling pools to freshly painted walls. 

• Support the daily maintenance operations of the hotel.
• Clean and maintain swimming and spa pools.
• Repair and restore items such as windows, screens, doors, fences, barbecues, picnic tables, shelves, cupboards, and more.
• Paint and maintain interior and exterior surfaces including walls, ceilings, and fences.
• Carry out daily plant rounds, noting and reporting any faulty equipment.

About you

• Previous trades or general maintenance experience will be preferred. 
• Organised, adaptable, and able to juggle multiple tasks.
• Well-presented with a friendly, professional approach to guest interaction.
• A quick learner who enjoys developing new skills.
• A collaborative team player with great communication skills.
• Flexibility to work 5 days a week on a rotating roster (including after-hours, weekends, and public holidays).
• The right to live and work in New Zealand.
• A current, unrestricted driver’s licence.
