Our Clandeboye site is Fonterra’s largest manufacturing site, with 11 plants processing, at peak up to 13 million litres of milk per day through some of the biggest dryers in the world. We employee over 1,000 people across the value stream all bringing a diverse range of skills, expertise and thought to our operation.

About the opportunity | Te whai waahi

We have an exciting and rare opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Team Lead to join our fast-paced and innovative Clandeboye site where you will be responsible for leading and influencing a team of high performing Maintenance fitters and electricians to deliver our commitments of improved plant performance and efficiency. You will act as the main conduit between our Maintenance and Production teams, to ensure our production lines are working efficiently, develop standards to eliminate loses and proactively seek opportunities to improve maintenance activities.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your key responsibilities include:

  • Provide direction and leadership to a team of electricians and mechanical fitters
  • Coaching, coordinating and continually upskilling maintenance and operational personnel creating an engaging, positive and safe work environment
  • Own the maintenance improvement and breakdown elimination strategies to decrease losses
  • Ensure that all plant, utilities and facilities maintenance tasks have been planned, organised, and executed to a high standard
  • Responsible for eliminating unnecessary maintenance and breakdown related downtime
  • Play a key role in Asset Strategy and Preventive Maintenance standards
  • Play an active role in leading MBP standards across the site

This is a permanent opportunity working 4 days on 3 off days (Monday to Thursday OR Tuesday to Friday)

About you | Moe koe

We are looking for a highly motivated strong people Leader with demonstrated background in either mechanical or electrical functions. With a focus on standards creation, maintenance improvement, you will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Your passion for problem-solving and root-cause analysis coupled with your ability to work across several teams will see you succeed in this pivotal role.

Additional skills you will bring to this role:

  • Certified Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance Tradesman or Equivalent ideally with Cross-Training
  • Previous people leadership experience
  • Proven technical mastery of equipment and able to develop this in others
  • Trade background with a focus on electrical preferred but not essential
  • Experience in a dairy processing or food manufacturing environment advantageous but not essential
  • Good problem-solving skills with a demonstrated knowledge of root-cause analysis techniques (RCA)
  • Good working knowledge and experience in Maintenance Management Systems (we use SAP)
  • Strong focus on Food Safety and Quality as well as Health and Safety standards
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • A self-starter with a can-do attitude with fresh eyes and fresh thinking
