About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

As Manager, Business Intelligence, you will lead the health, capability and maturity of ACC’s Business Intelligence practice. You will create the conditions for talented BI professionals to succeed, providing strategic and technical direction, connecting people to purpose and ensuring the team’s capability and priorities are aligned with organisational needs.

You will look ahead to understand the BI capability ACC will need for the future and develop the people, skills and expertise to meet that need. Through coaching, mentoring and professional development, you will build a high-performing team and strengthen BI as a technical discipline. 

You will support the evolution of modern BI architecture, semantic modelling, reporting, visualisation and self-service practices, while partnering closely with Data Engineering and stakeholders across ACC. Your leadership will help turn trusted data into decision-ready information, contributing to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

The appointing salary for this role is $138,301 - $178,978 based on experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.

You will bring:

• Significant experience leading Business Intelligence, BI engineering or comparable technical data teams within large, complex organisations.
• Strong people leadership capability with a track record of coaching, mentoring, developing people and building high-performing technical teams.
• The ability to translate strategic priorities and future direction into clear capability priorities for BI teams.
• Strong technical and domain knowledge across BI architecture, semantic modelling, data visualisation and enterprise reporting.
• A forward-looking approach to capability development, with the ability to anticipate future skills, practices and expertise and support people to grow.
• The ability to create clarity and purpose while empowering technical professionals to take ownership and do their best work.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across technical and non-technical senior audiences.
• Experience partnering with Data Engineering and Data Architecture within integrated data environments.
• A continuous improvement mindset and experience evolving BI standards, tools, practices and ways of working.
• Sound understanding and demonstrated leadership of the application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.
