Mō te tūnga | About the role 


 


A vacancy exists for the permanent, full-time position of Manager – Child Sex Offender (CSO) Registry.  This is a significant role in delivering one of the organization’s key prevention initiatives in relation to sexual offending against children.


 


The purpose of this role is to provide leadership and oversight on the operational application of the Child Protection (Child Sex Offender Government Agency Registration) Act 2016.  As mandated by Cabinet, this Register delivers the application of a Risk Management Framework (RMF), practice support, Intelligence and a compliance function. 


 


The applicant must be prepared to work from the National Intelligence Centre (NIC) within Police National Headquarters in Wellington. 


 


Key Accountabilities: 


 


This role will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to: 


 



  • professionally represent the Child Sex Offender Register and the National Intelligence Centre (NIC) to wider Police workgroups

  • build and maintain working relationships through ongoing liaison with key stakeholders

  • develop and practice general management and leadership of a critical role within the NIC and Police.

The Manager – CSO Register will have oversight of all relevant legislation and policies and ensure the Registries systems and processes remain fit for purpose through a process of quality assurance monitoring, continuous improvement, and stakeholder engagement.  


 


The Manager - CSO Register directly overseas the operational delivery of three national work teams (21 staff): Psychology, Risk and Practice, Operations (including Intelligence and Registration & Compliance); and Systems and Processes. 


 


The Manager will develop and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, both domestic and international, to affect the efficient exchange of information whilst seeking opportunities to operationalise that information and share best practice. This includes working with the National Criminal Investigations Group and District Crime Managers to identify and manage risk.  The CSO Registry also maintains a range of effective working relationships with specified agencies under the Act, to share information to reduce the risk of sexual re-offending against children.

The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:


NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or: 



  • A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or

  • A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

Utu ā-tau | Salary 


 


This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $155,956.00 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
