Maritime New Zealand's Maritime Response team is based in Te Atatu, Auckland and has responsibility for the strategic, intelligence and planning functions for maritime incident readiness and response, in particular for marine oil spill readiness and response for Tier 1, 2 and 3 marine oil spills. This team of professionals is made up of a range of specialists, providing technical maintenance of oil spill equipment, coordinating and conducting training activities throughout New Zealand and playing a key role in any maritime incident response.
Te tūnga | The role
As a team we are responsible for the whole of life management of Maritime NZ's oil spill response assets and inventory, including our fleet of small workboats, as well as the establishment and maintenance of contractual arrangements for technical support during a maritime response. The Maritime Response Technician supports these functions through the preventative maintenance and inspection of equipment, vessels and vehicles held in Te Atatu and regional stores throughout the country.
We are looking for a technically experienced individual with relevant qualifications and practical experience in the automotive industry or working on / operating vessels in the maritime environment or working in emergency preparedness and response roles. Working knowledge of Maritime New Zealand's MOSS system, equipment maintenance and repair procedures required to operate safely and legally is a definite plus.
If you have experience of oil spill response and a good understanding of equipment used we would be happy to consider your application at the Senior Response Technician level.

This is a full time, 37.5 hour per week permanent role. The appointing range for this role is $98,165 - $107,981, however if you have a depth of skills and experience we would consider you for a more Senior level role.
