About Herd-i:
Herd-i is an automated livestock monitoring system designed to address a critical challenge in the dairy industry. Developed in New Zealand by a team of experts with extensive experience in farming, agri-tech, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and software development, our technology aims to empower farmers with the decision-making tools they need to succeed in an increasingly data-driven and digital-led sector.

At Herd-i we are passionate about improving farming practices and building trusted solutions for farmers. Our locomotion product is trained by vets and collects tens of thousands of data points from dairy farms which is transformed into actionable intelligence for farmers. This allows for early detection and effective treatment of lameness to maintain the highest standards of animal welfare, milk production and farm profitability. 

About the Role:
This role is being funded by a Callaghan Innovation Career Grant, providing 6 months fixed-term full time employment for a recent Masters or PhD graduate with expertise in statistical analysis. 

We are seeking help with data analysis and developing models that will be invaluable in enabling farmers real time on-farm decision making by clearly demonstrating both the costs and returns of early identification and effective treatment of dairy cow lameness based on credible data. 

Herd-i have an office in Christchurch and so the ideal candidate would be based in this office to be part of the team. Hybrid WFH options are available. The role is available to commence within 2 weeks of the successful candidate being selected.
